Senate Committee Approves the Impeachment of Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol

William Oduol

An eleven-member Committee in the Senate has approved the impeachment of Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol for Gross Violation of the Constitution and other Laws in respect of interference with the procurement process through acts of bid-rigging.

He is also charged with the abuse of office, an allegation that remains another subject of investigation going forward.

The Standard has reported that the impeached DG will know his fate in a plenary debate to be held by the parliament, after the decision was made by the Committee.

Kenya Kwanza senators have expressed their desire to save the impeached deputy governor which could turn the Siaya county woes into a political battle between President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga

In fact, there are reports that Kenya Kwanza leaders within the Committee were planning to vote against the motion for impeachment against Oduol, if at all it will be tabled before the Senate.

With the wrangles cutting the divide between two of the top leaders in Siaya County, President William Ruto sees an opportunity to gain entry into Raila’s political bedroom.

However, it looks like the Committee led by Elgeiyo Marakwet senator William Kisang was fair in its judgment as they asked all parties concerned tough questions.
