Deputy President William Ruto assures Taita Taveta residents that he would boost livestock farmers by promoting value addition in the county. This would include a leather industry that would utilize hides and skins to make shoes internally rather than borrowing from abroad.
Today, while addressing attendees of Taita Taveta County Economic Forum, Deputy President William Ruto emphasized his message of value addition.
William Ruto said that Kenya Kwanza has a deliberate programme that focuses on value addition for mineral products in Taita Taveta County. The UDA leader also reiterated that his government will implement agro-processing of bananas and other farm output produced in Taita Taveta.
Kenya Kwanza has been traversing counties across the country to collect views from residents through County Economic Forums.

In the Taita Taveta County Economic Forum, Ruto asked resident to highlight the issues of agriculture that they would like his Government to deal with when his coalition captures power in August.
William Ruto said that his government will provide guaranteed minimum returns for farmers. This will be achieved by taking stock of agricultural produce in the county and finding markets to match demand with supply. The approach, Ruto says, will avoid issues of oversupply and lack of markets for farmers.
Agriculture is one of the primary pillars of UDA’s bottom-up economic plan. Ruto has already promised to provide subsidized and quality inputs such as seeds and fertilized to increase agricultural production in the country.
The Taita Taveta County Economic Forum is part of a wider plan for Kenya Kwanza to engage in issue-based politics that seeks to uplift ordinary Kenyans. By investing in Agriculture, the government is able to achieve its aim of rebuilding the economy and improve the living standards of all hustlers in our country.
Ruto was accompanied by Amazon Kingi who recently defected from Azimio-One Kenya Alliance to join the Deputy President’s Kenya Kwanza coalition.
The Kenya Kwanza team later attended rallies in Kwale County. Another Kenya Kwanza team led by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula. The two are in the western region for a 5-day tour of the region, and they will be joined by the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto tomorrow.
