Lamu County Aspirants 2022 – No Dominant Party Here

The number of registered voters in Lamu County as of 2017 stands at 69,774 voters spread across 167 polling stations. These are the number of votes that Kenya Kwanza and Azimio-One Kenya Alliance are looking to scramble for. The gubernatorial race is specifically becoming intense with the entry of former governor Issa Timamy, current Governor Fahim Twaha, and his Deputy Governor Eric Mugo.

Gubernatorial Race

The battle in Lamu County’s gubernatorial seat will be between Kenya Kwanza affiliated parties.

  1. Issa Timamy – former governor running on an ANC party ticket. A native of Lamu East, who was also the former governor of Lamu County
  2. Umra Omar – Umra Omar will be seeking to be governor for the first time on a UDA party ticket. He is a humanitarian and community conservation strategist.
  3. Eric Mugo – Former deputy governor seeking for the top county position on a TSP ticket.
  4. Yasin Fahim Twaha – the current governor of the county, running on the ODM ticket.

Lamu County Senator Race

IEBC has cleared 9 male candidates to run for the senatorial position in Lamu County.

  1. Anwar Loitiptip – current senator running on an Independent ticket
  2. Francis Kariuki Mugo – running on a UDA ticket
  3. Yusuf Mahmoud Aboubakar – running on an ANC ticket
  4. Bunu Haji – running on an ODM ticket, trounced Lotitiptip in nomination
  5. Khamis Nassor Mbaruk – KANU
  6. Joseph Githuku Kamau – Jubilee
  7. Ahmed Suleiman Ali (UPIA),
  8. Abdiwely Mohamed Dhahir of the National Alliance Party of Kenya
  9. Abudi Omar Mohamed (Wiper)

Lamu County Women Representative Aspirants 2022

Five women will be seeking to replace current women representative of Lamu County Ruweida Mohamed Obbo

  1. Amina Kale – Current nominated MCA running for women rep under the ANC party
  2. Esha Nizar – business woman running on ODM ticket
  3. Muthoni Marubu
  4. Nana Mote
  5. Maryam Abubakar
  6. Loyce Dama Luwali

Lamu East MP Aspirants

  1. Athman Sharif Ali – Current MP running on UDA ticket
  2. Ruweida Obbo – current women representative running on a Jubilee ticket
